But, if you're reading this, I'm going to assume it's because you've done your homework on fashion and you:
- Are too busy for lengthy videos,
- Are wary of inauthentic business videos offering advice,
- Prefer to quickly access the information you want on your own terms...
Why? Because I'm a fashion aficionado just like you, and that's exactly how I approach things.
So, please excuse the directness as I skip the usual pleasantries and fluff. I'm here to deliver precisely what the headline promises in a straightforward and concise blog post
In this blog post, you are going to see what I KNOW is an unfair advantage in styling because I have been doing it for 2 years now and it's changed how I dress completely.
You will see how to use your daily wears to
- Look classier without having to spend 3 to 5 times more.
- DRASTICALLY enhance your taste in fashion and life outlook.
- Unlock far more fits with your current items without purchasing.
- Replicate what I do to have the most suitable color combinations.
I understand that these expectations might seem a bit ambitious, and that's alright because they really are. This is what makes it seem unfair. Honestly, if I hadn't spent years experimenting with this and seeing fantastic outcomes, I might be skeptical too.
The Secret Isn’t Some Hidden Strategy. It’s Not Using "Flashy Brands".
Let me explain so you have some context.
My “BOOM” moment from styling up didn’t come from
- Wearing the most expensive clothing items
- A crazy low-key brand that no one knows about
- Some fashion style break through
It came from not being “flashy” with the brands that I wear.
I used to really struggle with how I dress. People would tend to give me compliments sometimes, then some other times, I get weird looks.
I could never get that “BOOM” moment I was looking for above because I believe I was missing one of the three things above.
It wasn’t until I've seen some of the top classic fashion icons that I learned this
It's always about letting the garment quality speak for itself, not showcasing who you're wearing.
Wearing a logo, if at all, is extremely subtle.
Luxurious fabric like cashmere, marina wool, cotton silk blends are the language of Old Money style.
The Biggest Problem of All. You Can’t Level Up Because You’re too “Colorful”
This is what being too “colorful” means. There is no way you can level your style with this. It just doesn’t work. Here’s why.
Fashion is about the harmony between your personal aura and your clothing. Ideally, well-chosen attire should complement the wearer in such a way that it enhances your overall presence, not overpower it. The aim is for onlookers to notice you as a whole, not just your clothes.
When you dress in an overly colorful manner, it shifts the focus solely to your clothing, rather than creating a balanced and cohesive impression of your entire ensemble.
How I Fixed This
After realizing how my preference for colorful clothing was not benefiting my style or wardrobe, it didn't take long for me to understand that I needed to focus more on simpler, more neutral colors.
Simple neutral colors in different shades of navys, greys, blacks, whites, browns and beiges are versatile, classy and can be as elegant as they are understated.
Now That You “Get It” Here’s How to Select the Right Clothing Pieces
Old Money style is timeless, generational. It's made up of wardrobe pieces that will always be relevant.
Chinos, with a classic shirt worn with or without a sweater, and loafers is a perfect example.
Finish it off with simple but refined accessories
The right watch and perfect sunglasses are all you need.
And That’s All There Is Too It
As we wrap up this journey into the world of fashion, remember, the key lies in the choices you make. Whether you're selecting timeless pieces, opting for a more minimalist palette, or refining your accessories, it's all about enhancing your personal style in a way that feels authentic to you.
Embracing these principles has completely transformed my approach to dressing, and I believe it can do the same for you. Fashion isn't just about what you wear; it's about how you wear it and the story you tell through your style.
I hope this post has offered you some valuable insights and inspiration to redefine your wardrobe. Remember, fashion is a personal journey, and there's no one-size-fits-all approach. Trust your instincts, stay true to your style, and most importantly, enjoy the process.
Thank you for joining me in this exploration of fashion and style. Here's to making every outfit an expression of who you are!
